Rights Of Way Improvement Plan
Foreword
The Rights of Way Improvement Plan is part of the process of making our public rights of way fit for purpose and able to deal with the challenges we face in the future. We need to work with our partners and respond to residents concerns about either the state of the public footpath and also any anti social behaviour. This is part of making the routes fit for purpose.
We need to listen to residents and balance the right to roam with the rights of residents to have a peaceful place to live, free from excessive disruption from people causing problems.
I value the footpaths around the borough both rural and urban and I see striking the right balance as being paramount in improving the network of footpaths.
I hope this Improvement plan brings about a debate about what we want from our rights of way and how we want to use them and what they are for and equally importantly what they are not.
